This series of photos shows one day in one person’s life. The photos are in chronological order. Every picture shows one particular fragment: waking up in bed, checking emails, going to work, meeting up with friends, etc. The photos are in documentary style, but in fact they are not documentary at all. Every photo is staged and posed. The subject is picking their nose in every picture, when nobody is looking (although sometimes there are other people present, they are preoccupied with their own things). In fact, the person in the photos is me. And picking my nose is an addiction that I’ve had my whole life. A lot of people around me do not notice it, although of course those who are close to me do.
With this series I wanted to show how I deal with this addiction in my everyday environment. I also wanted to understand it better and to overcome it. But so far it has not helped me. I really hope that this series helps other people to start looking at their own addictions… Or at least make them laugh or smile at me. And if you know of any way to kick this habit, please let me know!
